Kite flying in Afghanistan is a pastime enjoyed by old and young alike. Especially on the occasion of
Nauroz, the spring equinox that is celebrated across the region as the new year, the skies are filled with bright and colourful kites, all in combat with each other.
At the
Simurgh Festival, we will spend an afternoon learning to make kites, painting them and flying them together to celebrate the spring.
Materials will be provided as part of the event.
