For M.A.P // A.M.P
OUT ON 10.06.2022!
Set a reminder here.
Why does hateful propaganda spread faster and wider than messages of love? Why is discrimination normalised, and inclusiveness looked down upon? The simple answer is, it’s a lot easier to sell hatred than love.
Most hatred comes out of ignorance, and most hateful propaganda works on the basis of a single story. In the narrative of ‘Us versus Them’, we are told a single story about them, and that story is about how ‘they’ are bad people. For lack of exposure or awareness, and through systematic bombardment, the masses unknowingly start believing and even enjoying this single story.
As artists, one of our primary jobs is to tell stories. By telling multiple stories about ‘them’, we can make people understand how ‘they’ aren’t that different from ‘us’. ‘They’ are also human beings that love, play, cry and laugh just like ‘us’. By making multiple stories available to the masses, artists can become a strong force negating the spread of hatred and fear.
Art can play a huge role in bringing people together, and blurring the boundary between ‘us’ and ‘them’.
