We are happy to present the
second session of
A Garden of Reflection, facilitated by
Masoom Parmar, artist, curator and arts manager, based in Bangalore.
Provocation for this session: Reading of "The Hopeful Heart of Nizamuddin Khan" from Remnants of Separation by Aanchal Malhotra followed by a biographical monologue and movement improvisation.
As a queer, part-Muslim, male Bharatanatyam dancer, Masoom Parmar navigates through many Indias in his work and personal life. In this session, he will share personal anecdotes to talk about ancestry and belonging. Using a partition survivor's interview as a prompt and starting point, to discuss what citizenship, secularism and the idea of home means, in today's world.
A Garden of Reflection is a space to gather, to come together to read, listen and share. Every week a guest will be invited to bring in some material as a provocation to start a conversation through personal stories and sharing. Over the weeks themes of love, friendships, gender, caste, religion will be discussed through the lens of identity and citizenship.
The session is
free,
participatory and
open to all.
Limited seats on a first-come, first-served basis. To participate,
register here.
A Garden of Reflection is a
Sandbox Collective project in partnership with the
Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Bangalore.
