17th Edition of Dialogues: Calcutta International LGBTQIA+ Film and Video Festival
DIALOGUES, launched in 2007, has been an annual cultural event in the city of Kolkata focusing on showcasing feature films, short films, documentary films and more from national and international filmmakers on and about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender communities simultaneously providing a much-needed platform for independent films from India and abroad on these themes.
Though the primary identity of DIALOGUES is that of a queer film festival, it has consistently seeked to grow in order to include socially relevant themes across the spectrum. The festival is a celebration of writers, directors, actors and their work dealing with gay lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex themes and issues – but does not limit itself to narrow definitions of these identities. DIALOGUES believes that the Film Festival is yet another tool in the larger struggle many towards justice and dignity.
The festival will open on Friday, 17 November at 6:30 pm.
Screening scheduled and further details will be made available closer to the date.
