What Amélie was to Paris, so Cleo is for Berlin: Bursting with ideas, treasure hunter Cleo wanders an enchanted city in search of master criminals the Sass Brothers’ treasure. A big city fairytale full of wit and bizarre supporting characters from the past, it’s romantic, playful, and, at the same time, a love letter to Berlin.

Erik Schmitt was born in Mainz in 1980. With his feature film debut "Cleo", he is a guest in the Generation section for the third time. For his short film "Nun Sehen Sie folgendes" he received the German Short Film Award. In total, he has won over 100 international festival and film awards with his short films. In 2018 he founded the production company Seven Elephants together with director Julia von Heinz, director David Falko Wnendt and producer Fabian Gasmia. He is currently working on the science fiction film Rebels.
