What’s Going On Here? is a dance production started during pandemic, uses contemporary art in the form of movement, dance and design, to confront human action specially greed and addresses environmental issues. The work aims to create an immersive experience that instigates the audience to question their actions and become more environmentally conscious.

What’s Going On Here? is a project by Deepanwita Roy, developed as part of her bangaloREsidency-Expanded at WeltKunstZimmer in 2022. Deepanwita later collaborated with Purnendra Meshram and Pradeep Gupta to create this piece.

Human actions and choices have a significant impact on the environment. Irresponsible human behavior has led to environmental degradation, which has, in turn catastrophically affecting all lives on earth . Unfortunately, the consequences of human actions are not fully understood, and many continue to live in denial of the destruction caused to the planet. As a society, we need to confront our actions and the environmental issues that come with them.

What's Going On Here? delves with human greed: invasion, capitalism and consumerism to explore the impact of over exploitation and wastage of natural resources on the environment and how our choices as invaders, capitalists, and consumers affect the planet. The performance is designed to be conducted in public spaces such as galleries, parks, and halls for a diverse audience.
