An Autobiography
Translated from Marathi, with an introduction and afterword
by Adele Hennig-Tembe
This book is the first German translation of the memoirs of the actress Hansa Wadkar (1923-1971). Published in 1970 in the regional language Marathi, these translations are still considered one of the most important Indian women's autobiographies. They not only provide insights into the beginnings of Indian cinema, but also into the emotional life and struggles of an Indian woman.

ABOUT ADELE HENNIG-TEMBE
Adele Hennig-Tembe studied Indology and Ethnology at the University of Leipzig. She has been teaching Hindi and Marathi since 2005, among others at the Institute of Indology and Central Asian Studies at the University of Leipzig and at the Indological Seminar of the University of Göttingen. In contrast to the teaching for Indologists, which primarily enables students to read Hindi texts, the aim at the Language Institute is to train the ability to express oneself in Hindi. Along with the language, knowledge of the culture is also imparted by including everyday Indian objects and materials such as vocabulary posters, children's poems and comics in the lessons.Location
