Saturday, 18 & Sunday, 19 November 2023

Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan New Delhi

Curated by Gaysi Family

Opn Art House curated by Gaysi Family is a weekend-long, travelling, alternative art and design festival exploring a diverse range of artistic expressions which stray from normative aesthetic standards, either in terms of format, theme or style. It is an oasis where zines, illustrations, sculptures, photography, poems, and installations collide in a symphony of unfiltered creativity. At its core, OAH celebrates artists who dare to frolic around in their chaotic and impulsive thoughts, and breathe life into their most unconventional, unhinged and unfiltered ideas. Those who break form so they can tell their stories in a way that is authentic to them, in the way they choose.

At OAH, we’re asking What is art? But we’re accepting wrong answers only.
Convention? Norms? The good ol’ Playbook? Nah. Not in this household.

OAH envisions a world where art empowers and creates spaces for solidarity, challenging societal norms and power structures. The theme for its inaugural edition on Saturday, 18 and Sunday, 19 November at Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan New Delhi is Joy as Resistance.

With an expected attendance of 2500+, the festival offers a diverse range of activities, including a zine and merch bazaar, immersive exhibit walkthroughs, a community table to socialise with fellow attendees and artists, and the opportunity to savour delicious food while listening to live music. Opn Art House is a must-visit for those searching for unconventional and unapologetic artistic experiences.

About Gaysi Family
Gaysi Family is an online and offline safe space for queer desis that was formed in 2008. We hold space for queer folx from across Southeast Asia to share their stories and experiences while engaging with others from the community.

We believe that it is critical to understand what it means to be queer. While people are aware that being queer means being LGBT, we must also understand that queerness is a philosophy, a politics, a sensibility. Queerness extends beyond sexual orientations, gender definitions or identities, and includes anything that’s different or alternative to the structures normalized in contemporary society.
