The endeavor has been to honour and showcase the work of women filmmakers of Asian origin, and also to provide a platform for stimulating, enriching and thought provoking discussions and interactions with young and old filmmakers from India and abroad around the subjects of gender, media and a changing world.
Besides screening of films, IAWRT hosts seminars, discussions, workshops and, exhibitions to involve audiences. An important objective of the festival is to reach out to media students and young filmmakers, in order to facilitate critical thinking and dialogue on gender concerns, enhance their skills by hosting workshops on camera, scripting, editing and more.
A master class will also be initiated by inviting an eminent film maker to hold a session wherein she will not only discuss her art and craft but also provide insights on the socio-cultural milieu with a selection of her films which provide the context to her body of work.
