City Scripts – a three-day celebration of city writings
With the city increasingly becoming the locus of a complex landscape of claims, writing about the city has become akin to a political act. To write about the city is to stake a right to represent, re-imagine and re-tell a city’s stories through personal prisms.
City Scripts 2018 will look at how the city is produced and reproduced through different forms of writing. The festival will bring together authors, journalists, architects, poets, and artists, including Hansda Sowvendra Shekhar, Amita Baviskar, Chandan Gowda, Orijit Sen, Prasad Shetty, Rupali Gupte and more.
Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan is delighted to present German graphic artist
Fabian Stoltz, who will exhibit his work together with
Jai Undurti journalist, the creator of
Hyderabad: A Graphic Novel, a unique city-centric approach to graphic storytelling. Both are currently working on
The Cities Beneath, the first part of which was exhibited at the Rathaus, Hamburg in November 2017.
Curated by the
Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS), City Scripts was initially launched in 2016 in Bangalore. After the very successful first Delhi edition of the festival in 2017, Goethe-Insitut / Max Mueller Bhavan New Delhi will host the festival again. Join us
from the evening of Friday, 9th March until Sunday, 11th March 2018.
There will be full-day programs including walking-cum-writing workshops, poetry sessions, conversations, books, installations and more!
