By Awdhesh Tamrakar
In the second version of the app, Awdhesh Tamrakar
has used fragments of digitally constructed architectural structures as a visual element to intervene in the physical space. These structures are virtually placed on the ground when we touch on the screen and move in the space.
Through the work, his intention is to create an environment for the viewers to interact and engage with the surrounding space. Placed virtual structures react and synchronize with the environment light, nearby structures, and objects.
Virtual structures create an immersive environment, which opens up many new dimensions to play/interact with virtual structures and the space around it.
To install the application, a minimum Android 9 operating version and arcore
installation is required on your phone.
Download the app for Android.
Heads In The Cloud V1.0
An interactive site-specific work, designed to question our notions of viewing and experiencing space in everyday life.
Gadgets and technological tools are supposed to bridge the gap between time and space, but our growing dependency on these gadgets and technologies are making us more distant from the immediate tangible world and pushing us towards the virtually stimulated life. In this project, Awdhesh uses smartphone habits of the viewer and virtually simulated reality to highlightsthe gaps between our habitual, automatic, simplistic understanding of the spaces we inhabit and the complex, multiple realities of the same space, thereby compelling the viewer to ask him/herself how and what s/he is looking at.
The viewer was directed to instantly download an app on his/her phone. There were images and objects in multiple locations on the campus of Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata and New Delhi. Upon viewing the images and objects through the app, viewers would be led to a virtually simulated reality, prompting questions about the experience of viewing. To experience the work viewers were asked to carry their smartphone. There were instructions related to where to download, how to install, and how to use the app.
