With the project KHAN AL FAN, the Goethe-Institut Irak promotes the emerging market of cultural creative industries (CCIs), the entrepreneurial and political awareness of the sector and the creation of employment prospects in Iraq.
Within the framework of this project, we are looking for external trainers for a Design Management masterclass in October.

The Design Management Masterclass is targeted at Iraqi designers, with the aim to develop efficient design strategies to ensure that the needs of design and the needs of the business are met effectively. The masterclass enhances the business side of design professions by improving the management skills of designers in their creation process.

The main topics (among others) include:

  • Design as a Business
  • Managing Design Processes
  • Research Strategies
  • Quality Communication
  • Brand Building

Task Description:
  • Conception and preparation of a training program on the subject of “Design Management”
  • Preparation of workshop content and documents and workshop agenda
  • Creation of workshop materials for processing by the participants
  • Participating in preparatory meetings and closely communicating with the Goethe-Institut project team as well as the other trainers in preparation of the overall program
  • Close coordination with the Goethe-Institut team on needs in the implementation of the workshop such as defining the necessary logistic and technical needs for workshops
  • Participation in the selection process of participants for the program
  • Conducting the training according to the developed concepts

General Requirements:
  • Many years of proven professional experience on the topic of design management
  • Professional experience in planning and conducting workshops
  • Very good knowledge of the English or Arabic language
  • Availability for arrangements and coordination with the Goethe-Institut
  • Willingness to travel to Bagdad - Iraq to conduct the workshops
  • Excellent intercultural skills

  • Estimated workload: 15-20 hours of teaching/trainer in October
  • All offers will be evaluated according to the criteria of price (40%), demonstrable expertise in content (30%) and experience in concluding workshops (30%).
