Mentors for “Designed in Iraq” Program within the framework of the project “Khan al Fan”

With the project KHAN AL FAN, the Goethe-Institut Irak promotes the emerging market of cultural creative industries (CCIs), the entrepreneurial and political awareness of the sector and the creation of employment prospects in Iraq. Within the framework of this project, we are looking for 2 external Mentors in the in the fields of Idea development and Product design in order to guide and support participants in the Designed in Iraq program, from 24.08.2022 until 25.10.2022.

Each Mentor will be responsible for providing guidance, motivation, support, setting goals, developing contacts, and identifying resources.
The mentorship of the Designed in Iraq participants will be online. The time commitment is estimated to be a total of (30) hours.

Context:

From Iraqi Kurdistan to the Marshes, Iraq owns a rich tradition of patterns and colours that represent a distinctive regional design tradition in arts and crafts, but also in modern graphic design and illustration and many other fields of the creative industries. In the framework of the Designed in Iraq program, a research website has been developed to provide a manual of the shape, colour, typography and pattern of typical Iraqi design and serve as a visual guide for designers and creatives to get inspiration. Within the same program, we are inviting individual entrepreneurs, collectives and start-ups, active in the field of design, to submit project proposals for product designs with Iraqi design characteristics and get the opportunity for their ideas to be recognized by giving financial support and mentorship. The goal is to support creative professionals to realize their innovative product ideas and successfully place their products in the market. The selected grantees will receive trainings in areas such as creative idea development, financial planning, marketing and branding, cultural heritage and material and Biomimetics to enhance their professional development and will also get mentorship throughout the process of creating their products.

Task Description:

  • Establishes, with the Participants, their explicit goals and objectives for successful product development
  • Participating in preparatory meetings with the project team as well as the other Mentor
  • Closely communicating with the project team and the other Mentor in preparation of “Designed in Iraq” Mentorship program.
  • Contributing to developing the product ideas of participants while being present through the process of product development
  • Mentoring at least 2 participants/ 2 groups of Designed in Iraq online, available at certain times to answer questions and to give mentorships.
  • Designing a program and a schedule of meetings to maintain the relationship between the mentor, the project and the participants at least once a week.
  • evaluating participants performance and its activeness and responsiveness during the meetings.


Framework of the procurement

All offers are evaluated according to the criteria price (40%), demonstrable expertise in the respective field (30%) and guiding the grantees (30%). Please provide us with an informative offer, which, in addition to the price for the service, shows your suitability with regard to the above criteria.
