The way we exchange information through media has fundamentally changed with the worldwide spread of the corona virus. Asia - ground zero of the pandemic - was the first region accelerating its digitalization and media output rapidly. The political discourse became more controversial, social media got professionalized, digital communities grew while encounters in "real" life became a taboo. One and a half years later we ask: What was blessing, what was curse? How do we consume information, media, art in the new normal – and who do we trust? And just like the virus does: Will these trends lastingly change the DNA of media and information culture?

THE BRAIN MACHINE is a digital talk on Zoom held by the Beijing, Seoul, and Tokyo sections of the Goethe-Institut during which experts will outline and discuss the future of media and information in Asia. English with simultaneous interpretation in Chinese, Japanese, Korean.
