Conversations with African Writers

The Literary Crossroads series brings  together African writers on the continent and from the diaspora to discuss contemporary trends and themes in literature.

In this session, the Goethe-Institut will host Elnathan John from Nigeria and Kinyanjui Kombani from Kenya in a moderated conversation and discussion with the audience. Elnathan John is a writer, lawyer and satirist whose first novel “Born on a Tuesday” was first published in Nigeria in 2015. His short stories have been twice shortlisted for the Caine Prize for African Writing, in 2013 and 2015. Kinyanjui Kombani, “The banker who writes”, is a creative writer, banker, learning facilitator, and award winning entrepreneur based in Nairobi. His novel “The Last Villains of Molo”, based on ethnic instigated clashes in Molo, Kenya, is a study text at universities in Kenya, Germany, USA and UK at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. “Den of Inequities”, another novel, is a study text in Kenyan universities and in schools in Rwanda.
