Discussion World Radio Day

The World Radio Day takes place every February 13th. It was proclaimed on 3rd November 2011 by UNESCO's 36th General Conference. In December 2012, the UN General Assembly endorsed and proclaimed the World Radio Day. Since then various events are organized across the globe to commemorate this day and the power of radio to reach many audiences in one-way wireless transmission over waves. With technology today, one can listen to their favourite channels through the internet.

In Kenya, radio remains the most prolific medium with statistics putting it ahead of television in terms of listenership.

World Radio Day 2020 seeks to foster discussions, dialogues and help journalists share experiences on radio journalism as a way of commemorating this important day.

In conjunction with Media Council of Kenya.
