The “Asian Composers Showcase” was inaugurated by the Goethe-Institut Korea in collaboration with the Tongyeong International Music Festival (TIMF) in 2013. This project aims to support the composition of new music in Asia. Every year a committee of internationally renowned composers nominates four aspiring young composers from Asia. The Goethe-Institut then commissions each to write a new work. The premiere concert of the four new pieces takes place at TIMF, performed by the festival’s ensemble for an international audience.

The Asian Composers Showcase provides a platform for composers from Asia. Here you can find short biographies of the participating composers and short statements on their works.
