(     )Book (     )Book Festival brings together over thirty-nine publishers from more than ten countries — a vibrant mix of voices, ideas, and publishing practices from around the world. The festival will begin with a forum on September 11 and 12, featuring a number of publishing practitioners from across Asia, and will expand into a variety of programs, including exhibitions, reading rooms, and a micro book fair. The forum in the hall will address the core issues of independent publishing in practical terms through three themes: production, distribution, and archiving. It will be an opportunity to share the experiences and expertise of ten teams that have been active for over a decade.

The exhibition “BOOK?” by the Singapore-based research group Atelier Hoko is taking place in the library. Also located there is the Reading Room, featuring over 50 books recommended by participating publishers, freely accessible to all visitors. Meanwhile, the anniversary exhibition “abC 10 Years with Friends at (     )Book (     )Book Festival” by abC & DREAMERFTY from Beijing is presented on the stage of the hall.

During the book fair on September 13 and 14, a varied program will be offered, including the “(draft) ZINE (printed) ZINE” program, which serves as a gathering place to pitch publishing proposals and explore the possibility of collaborating on projects. In conjunction with the festival, a catalogue titled The Bookbook Handbook will be launched, along with a zine Yes, BOOK, which serves as a companion piece to the Atelier Hoko exhibition.

The detailed program and a list of participating publishers can be found on the festival’s website. All events are free of charge and open to the public without prior registration.

The festival is organized by Lim Kyung Yong, Sam Kim, and Seojoo Han, and supported by the Arts Council Korea, the DesignSingapore Council, and the Goethe-Institut Korea.
