Following the success of Beirut Short Stories in 2016 and 2017, the project to promote young literary talent in the Middle East will continue in Beirut in 2018. In cooperation with KfW Stiftung, Goethe-Institut Libanon will be providing workshops headed by the Beirut- and Paris-based Syrian author and translator Dima Wannous.

Beirut Short Stories is aimed at exceptionally talented young writers living in Lebanon and writing in their native language of Arabic. They are called upon to develop short stories in writing workshops and to discuss them together. After the workshops, an expert jury in Beirut will view the resulting texts. The writing workshops also offer a platform for professional development in the fields of editing, translating and publishing.
Later this year, the workshops will also take place at the Goethe-Institut in Kairo and Ramallah.

Beirut Short Stories 2018 is a joint project of KfW Stiftung and Goethe-Institut Libanon.
