TELEVISION IN PUBLIC INTEREST

After the political change in Sri Lanka that enabled new possibilities for the development of civil society, it is meaningful to look at the work of media, especially that of television, and to give it new incentives.
The Sri Lankan public TV and media networks, who similar to European broadcasters promote television in public interest, thereafter received a growing function for the development of society.

The Goethe-Institut Sri Lanka wants to support Sri Lankan television networks and professionals in their efforts to shape television in their service for the public. One focus is to open ways to connect with the INternational PUblic Television conference INPUT. The annual INPUT conference offers great opportunities to deal with questions about public service broadcasting or “Television in Public Interest”, and to develop a self-conception of the individual engagement.
