The 2017 Fairway Galle Literary Festival (FGLF) is looking to continue the momentum of the 2016 Festival, with enduring themes of diverse programming, international and local author participation as well as gratis events.
The festival goer will have discussions, debates, panels, literary awards, tea and poetry readings, cookery demonstrations, gourmet events, performances and live music to look forward to, and that’s just the half of it!

We will also be introducing a day of Sinhala programming, as a festival first, as well as an outreach Children’s Programme in Jaffna on the 17th and 18th of January 2017.

Reinhard Kleist

We are delighted to welcome German graphic designer and illustrator Reinhard Kleist to the 2017 Fairway Galle Literary Festival. (Invited and supported by the Goethe-Institut)

Reinhard Kleist has published many non-fiction graphic novels including ‘Johnny Cash: I See a Darkness’ (2006), about the life of Johnny Cash that was a bestseller, has won several awards including two nominations for Harvey and Eisner in the U.S.A. and has been translated into 14 languages.
Reinhard’s latest book is a graphic biography which tells the remarkable true story of Somali Olympian Samia Yusuf Omar, published in 2015 under the title ‘An Olympic Dream: The Story of Samia Yusuf Omar’.
