SoliDialogues aims at creating spaces for individuals worldwide, eager to explore how solidarity, dialogue and inclusion can lead to a new narrative.

Over the last few years we have all been confronted with an array of challenges including climate change, a global pandemic, economic fears and insecurities and a sense of loss of orientation and values. All this in ever more fragmented societies and political landscapes has led to critical segregation.
Traditional social media has not delivered in building social cohesion, but rather in contributing to a reinforcement of echo-chambers, oversimplification and social polarisation. Instead of sensing what is, we have been trapped in reacting, distancing people, generating fear and hostility. For humanity to transition into a new paradigm, we urgently need to exercise understanding and suspend judgement. Our current reality is urging us to rethink our common ways, and collectively listen to what is and what wants to emerge.

On 19 and 20 March 2021 people from across the world will be matched in dialogue circles to exchange and act upon burning topics of our time, embarking from the question:

"How can an inclusive solidarity serve as an antidote to populism?"

In this online citizens’ assembly, we invite everyone to explore how solidarity can serve as an antidote to populism. By using the dialogues.one method, the interaction between individuals is shifted from discussion-based to dialogue-based, enabling a variety of voices and opinions to be heard. The attention is redirected from the need to defend an opinion towards actively listening to different perspectives and allowing collective thinking to take place.

Participants will be matched in clusters of up to 6 individuals, from diverse backgrounds and with different opinions. In each group, a range of topics will be addressed. One guiding question will give focus to each session. The goal is to activate a global network, reaching beyond bubbles and echo-chambers and engaging truly diverse participants. The proposal is to practice listening and to allow for the space between perspectives to reveal the possibilities of diverse and previously unimagined futures.

Considering the international ambition of the initiative, the first summit will take place in English, in forthcoming events a pluralism of languages will be considered.
