“This is me” (2019) by Beatrice Fleischlin and Anja Meser
The August 2022 edition of the Colombo Theatre Forum presents the German play “This is me” (2019) by Beatrice Fleischlin and Anja Meser. The Goethe-Institut Sri Lanka, in collaboration with Inter Act Art and the Deutsches Theater Berlin, invite you to an online stream of this stage drama tomorrow, 25 August 2022, 5 PM in the Goethe-Institut hall.
THIS IS ME* takes up the social debates about "gender" and aggressively envisions that "the norm" is eroding in favor of an unlimited diversity of lifestyles and identities. THIS IS ME* are two solos based on biographical experiences that make a solidary WE* visible. The performers and the audience appear as versatile, changeable and fluid existences and for an exemplary moment a coexistence beyond the differences can be experienced.
THIS IS ME* is a play about the search for one's own definition of self and womanhood - a feminist piece. THIS IS ME* is aimed at adults and young people in search of their own identity and at all those who resist prefabricated role models and are confronted with patriarchal structures. The piece touches and entertains people who are unfamiliar with the word "gender" as well as people who are at home in current feminist discourses.
