The 8th Jaffna International Cinema Festival is coming up! The festival will take place from 30 December 2022 to 8 January 2023 at the Kailasapathy Auditorium (University of Jaffna) Kälam (50 Kandy Road) and Regal Cinema (Cargills Square) in Jaffna.
The Goethe-Institut will contribute three films to the festival:
Copilot | Directed by Anne Zohra Berrached, 2021 (118 minutes)
Asli and Saeed fall in love in the mid-1990s. Although Asli’s mother is against their relationship, they secretly get married. Then he disappears.
Into the Beat | Directed by Stefan Westerwelle, 2021 (98 minutes)
A ballerina discovers hip-hop by chance and is faced with an impossible choice: Does she pursue her family's legacy or her newfound love.
Nasim. Directed by Arne Büttner and Ole Jacobs, 2021 (123 minutes)
In the Moria refugee camp on the Greek island of Lesbos, mother of two Nasim and her family time and again manage to deal impressively with the challenges of this unacceptable and extreme situation.
