Spoken Word / Poetic Practice
Join us on September 7th, 7 PM at the Goethe-Institut Courtyard, for an evening that celebrates the connection between breath, words, and performance.
The Punctuating Breath Showcase and Open Mic provides space for ten individuals who joined the previously held Punctuating Breath Workshop to perform their work, but also opens the stage to members of the audience eager to share their poetic practice and voices. During the workshop, participants brought forth what was bubbling within. Sitting with those bubblings, letting them settle and fill into the form and vessel of the page, they explored how they could find their individual and distinct voices as performers, to translate what was on the page onto the stage.
From seasoned poets to first-time performers, all backgrounds and experiences are welcome!
The Open Mic will also feature a
special performance by Tashyana Handy and Sakina Aliakbar that brings together spoken word, ambient sound and music, to close the evening.
