The Goethe-Institut has been present in Malaysia since 1962 and plays an important role in Malaysian-German cultural exchange. In 2022, we celebrate the past 60 years with our partners and lay the foundations for the future.
Which topics and discourses are we dealing with worldwide? The online magazine Zeitgeister invites experts, artists and authors to a joint exchange. It offers local and global perspectives – on postcolonialism, sustainability, post-digital cultures, feminism and current affairs.
The International Relief Fund 2020 was established in the summer of 2020 on the initiative of the Goethe-Institut and the Federal Foreign Office to support cultural and educational organisations abroad in dealing with the effects of the Corona pandemic. Due to the continuing urgency, the partners decided to launch the International Relief Fund again in 2021 and to expand the funding amount and the funding period.

In 2019 the Freedom Film Network and the Goethe-Institut jointly applied and successfully have been awarded a five-year project grant under the European Union which aimes at strengthening the civil society movements in Malaysia.
