Berlin is today considered a place of freedom, individuality and tolerance, but this has not always been so. On August 13, 1961 the construction of the Berlin Wall began, which was a symbol of the division of a city and a country, of horror and the Cold War for 28 years. From one day to another, the construction of the Wall changed an entire nation.

On November 9, 1989, the wall that divided Germany into East and West, separating families, friends, and neighbors, fell and Berlin became one again. A day on which the citizens of the GDR regained their city and their freedom after a peaceful revolution.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Goethe-Institut Malaysia is showing a film series of this time period.
