Stories of Our Lives is a 2014 Kenyan Drama that is based on five true stories that in one way or another lead into each other.
The stories “Ask Me Nicely”, “Run”, “Athman”, “Duet” and “Each Night I Dream” all deal with homosexuality and different challenges Kenyans face when expressing their sexuality and desires. In a country where same-sex relations are considered a crime and are punished, these five narratives can only end in tragedies; however, there remains a ray of hope for the future.
At first banned from Kenyan cinemas Stories of Our Lives was described as “one of the most triumphant and stunning films of the year” by the Huffington Post and won a jury prize at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival in 2015.
