Women, their bodies and ephemerality

ephemera – things that exist only for a short or limited time

A collaborative exhibition of 4 video installations by Bupe Chiwala, Neige Moongo and Julia Hango (JuliArt) that explore women’s relationship with their body as an object and/or the subject of a discourse on how gender roles effect women’s lives in Namibia. The body exists within a complex context of truths, mythologies, moralities and social relations – a context in which the body does not belong to the person. On the other hand, an individual has the relationship of being custodian of the body that is used as a tool to communicate their narrative.

The opening of this exhibition features two live performances.

This exhibition is curated by Buhle Ndlovu who was identified for her potential during in the Curatorship Bootcamp 2019 – a collaboration by the National Art Gallery of Namibia and Goethe-Institut Namibia.
