Machines and software systems
While data journalism focuses on sets of data, the new genre of algorithmic accountability sheds lights on the „machines“ and software systems that process and generate the data.
In this workshop, an introduction is given to both approaches: What are the basics for analyzing data to tell stories on it? How to find or produce data? What ways are there to visualize data in graphs and maps online? And what methods are there to better understand how algorithms operate and what impacts they have on society?
Previous knowledge on the subjects is not necessary for participation.
