The Goethe-Institut Nigeria is delighted to announce a call for applications for the Residency Re-Sourced project. We invite residency spaces across Africa to apply for this innovative initiative aimed at addressing sustainability challenges and enhancing resource management in the management of art residency spaces.  

About Residency Re-Sourced  

Residency Re-Sourced seeks to engage art residency spaces across African countries in a metalogue, a participatory conversation around resourcing art residency spaces. The project focuses on investigating successful models for sustaining art residency spaces and their contribution to creating a vibrant creative landscape in African cities. Our goal is to support residency spaces that offer programs fostering intra-African and transcontinental mobility and exchange.  
  
Who Should Apply?  
We are looking for residency spaces that; 

1. Have a clear objective to start a residency, and have already made the first steps towards it (e.g. by securing a space, signed a lease agreement, etc.) 
2. Have started a residency program but still have challenges (financially, legally, in terms of programming, infrastructure, etc. 
3. Face sustainability challenges in managing their residency spaces.  
4. Source or try to source their resources locally and innovative ways to enhance resource management and sustainability.  
5. Commit to creating a vibrant and sustainable creative landscape in their local communities.  

Benefits of Participation  
Selected residency spaces will benefit from:  

1. Workshops and Training: Participate in online workshops facilitated by professionals, focusing on sustainability, resource management, and innovative models for running residency programs.  
2. Toolkits and Resources: Receive comprehensive materials and toolkits designed to support the sustainability and growth of your residency space.  
3. Networking Opportunities: Connect with other residency spaces, professionals, and stakeholders across Africa to share knowledge and establish long-term partnerships.  
4. Participate in an exchange program: each residency space will be matched with a partner residency space and one staff member from each residency will visit the other residency for a period of up to four weeks  
5. Financial Support: Access to financial resources of 10,000 EUR max. to support the implementation of sustainable practices in your residency space based on a project proposal) 
6. Advisory Support: Ongoing advisory support from experts in the field to help you overcome sustainability challenges.  

How to Apply  
Interested applicants should submit the following documents:  

1. A Cover Letter: Outline your interest in the project, the challenges your residency space faces, and your vision for sustainability, including its history, mission, and the local resources you currently utilise (3 pages max.)  
2. A Detailed Proposal: Highlight one specific sustainability challenge and how you hope to address it through the Residency Re-Sourced project. The proposal should contain a project description (5 pages max) and a detailed budget (eligible costs: honorary fees for consultants, service providers, infrastructural costs up to 30% of the total budget).   
3. Curriculum Vitae (CV): Include the CVs of key personnel involved in the residency space.  
4. Supporting Materials: Any additional materials that demonstrate the work and impact of your residency space (e.g., brochures, photos, testimonials).

• Deadline: Applications must be submitted by December 8, 2024.  
• Format: All documents should be in PDF format.  
• Email: Send your application to oludamilare.kolawole@goethe.de with the subject line: "Application for Residency Re-Sourced – [Your Residency Space Name]".  

Selection Process  
Applications will be reviewed by a panel of experts from the Goethe-Institut Nigeria and partners. Selected residency spaces will be notified by January 25th 2025
