CONNECTING THE DOTS

The "Connecting the Dots" project (2023-2025) aims at facilitating community engagement with public museums in Nigeria through the establishment of a young scholars museum fellowship program and a youth education program. It is implemented by the Goethe-Institut Nigeria together with The Ford Foundation. Up to six Nigerian museums will participate in the program over a period of two years.

Goethe-Institut's Dreaming New Worlds project was designed to provide the questions that desperately need to be asked. Africa’s young population is expanding exponentially (by 2050 half of the people on this continent will be younger than twenty-five) and the creative sector is expanding right along with it.

Hausa Literature And Film

The novels and films about the big West African ethnic group Hausa are very popular, albeit barely penetrating the language border. Carmen McCain has not just done her doctorate on Hausa literature and cinema but also performed as an actress: “More than wanting to study it, I wanted to just go and be a part of it.”

Children's Books Authors & Illustrators

A workshop-series for children's book illustrators and authors, facilitated by Ute Krause and Baba Aminu Abdulkareem. The participants are six authors and six illustrators, who were selected via an open call last year.

BACK TO BASE – YOUNG CONTEMPORARIES ART WORKSHOP FOR STUDENTS

What happens, when five young contemporary Nigerian artists, coming from different parts of this country, go back to their former schools in their hometowns and lead two-day art workshops for the students? Ideally, it will create a vital spark of interest and enthusiasm for culture and art among the adolescents.
