"Sabi German for Naija" is the title of a project, funded by the German Foreign Office that supports the professionalization of German language teaching skills and methods.
In order to design a logo for this one year project, the Goethe-Institut had started an open call in spring. In a bid to make the German language learners a part of the decision makers for the logo-design, students (adolescents and young adults) were invited to create a logo that stands for the Nigerian-German cooperation in the field of language.
The two category competition gave birth to beautiful and creative designs from non-expert participants who are German language learners at the Goethe-Institut, the universities and schools.
A jury, consisting of the Nigerian artist Aderemi Adegbite, the Austrian architect Stefanie Theuretzbacher and Editor-in-Chief Olamide Udoma-Ejorh ("Lost in Lagos"), selected the three winners of the two categories.
The overall best design was edited and recreated by a professional designer and was used on all the promotional items during the just concluded conference of teachers of German language in Nigeria from the 1-3 July 2019.
The two lucky overall winners will attend German language courses in Germany this year. Congratulations!
