The Goethe-Institut Nigeria and Jazzhole invites you to a concert with German, Nigerian, Spanish and Mexican classic guitarists.

The well-known German, Romanian-born guitarist Mircea Gogoncea will play together with his colleagues Eduardo Inestal (Spain), Arturo Castro Nogueras (Mexico) and the Nigerian guitar group African Classical Guitar Platoon led by Nigerian guitarist Taiwo Adegoke a fascinating selection  of international music for classic guitar.
 
African Classical Guitar Platoon African Classical Guitar Platoon This concert is part of Mircea Gogoncea's voluntary project on supporting Nigerian classic guitarists. Two years ago, together with the support of the Robert Schumann University Duesseldorf and the renowned Spanish luthier family Ramirez, he managed to bring the probably first classic guitar to Nigeria. In spring 2018, he came for the first time to Lagos to give a master class for young guitarist at the Goethe-Institut Nigeria.  
This year, together with Eduardo Inestal and Arturo Castro Nogueras, he will again provide a master class and donate guitars to young Nigerian talents.
 
The concert is free of charge, but it is asked for a donation at the end of the event in order to purchase more guitars. Please register for the event

Mircea Gorogonces Mircea Gorgoncea Mircea Gogoncea is a German-Romanian classical guitarist currently based in Los Angeles. He graduated with maximum honors from the excellence program "Konzertexamen" at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf, as well as the "Advanced Diploma" program of the Royal Academy of Music London.
He has performed 350 concerts on five continents. Having been awarded a total of 165 prizes, he is considered one of the guitarists with the highest number of awards in the world.
Among the most prestigious of these are the 1st prize at the 2018 Havana International Guitar Competition in Cuba, 1st prize at the Julián Arcas Guitar Competition in Almería, Spain, 1st prize at the GFA Youth Solo Competition in Los Angeles and the Audience Prize at the Francisco Tárrega Competition in Benicassim, Spain.
In 2017, he brought his "Trip Around the World of Music Tour" to the USA, Cuba, the UK, Germany, Spain, France and Israel. In 2018, Mircea Gogoncea came for the first time to Lagos in order to teach master classes for young Nigerian guitarists. He is currently a Teacher’s Assistant for classical guitar at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and a doctoral student under Grammy award winner Scott Tennant.
 

Eduardo Inestal Eduardo Inestal The young guitarist Eduardo Inestal is considered one of the most important Spanish guitarist of his generation. He studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Salamanca and the
Robert Schumann Musikhochschule in Düsseldorf under the direction of Marcos Martin, Hugo Geller and Joaquin Clerch respectively. ). He graduated with Honors and won the Award “Premio de honor” and also got Konzertexamen under the tutelage of Master Clerch with the highest rating
"Mit Auszeichnung-Cum Laude". At the same time, he studied History and got a Master in Education in the University of Salamanca.
He attended numerous master classes where he met guitarists with worldwide reputation, such as Joaquin Clerch, David Russell, Ricardo Gallén, Roberto Aussel, Demetrio Ballesteros,
Eduardo Isaac, Miguel Trápaga and others.
Eduardo Inestal obtained 14 prizes in international competitions such as the "Norba Caesarina","Jose Tomas - Villa de Petrer", "Villa de Aranda", "Cesar Aira", "Luys Milan" among others, and he also has developed an important concert activity as soloist and chamber musician in Europe and America. Eduardo Inestal is invited to many music festivals as the “Festival internacional de Guitarra de La Habana” (Cuba), “Kirov Guitar Festival” (Russia), "Festival Internacional de Segovia" (Spain),”La guitarra en los jardines de Falla” (Granada-Spain), "Klanken Festival Maastricht" (Netherlands) ,"Niederrhein-Musikfestival" (Germany), "Düsseldorf Guitar Festival" (Germany) and Elfenauer Kultursommer (Bern-Switzerland). His guitar has led him to work with music personalities like guitarist and composer Joaquín Clerch, pianist Alberto Rosado and Anthony Spiri, bassoonist of the Concertgebouw Simon Van Holen or conductors such a Leo Brouwer, Desar Sulejmani, Thomas Gabrish, Dorel Murgu or Thomas Neuhoff among others.
 
Arturo Castro Arturo Castro Arturo Castro Nogueras is a Puerto Rican, Cuban and Mexican guitarist, who draws on a rich cultural background that spans his diverse heritage. Born into a family of musicians, he has performed extensively across Europe and the Americas, including sold – out perfomances in 2018 at the Düsseldorf Festival, Reading Fringe Festival in the U.K., Mexico City´s National Art Museum, Iberoamerican Institute in Berlin, among others, featuring Mexican and Caribbean contemporary and classical music.
Recent appearances include concerts as a soloist with Neue Philharmonie Westfalen in Germany, Orquesta Ciudad de Palencia in Spain, Aldworth Philarmonic Orchestra in the U.K., Camerata Santiago de Querétaro and INJUVE Orchestra in Mexico; recitals in Berlin, Cologne, Mexico City, Belgrade, San Juan, Havanna, Paris; as well as interviews for international radio and television stations such as Deutsche Welle, Radio France International and the BBC.
Arturo has a Bachelors degree in classical guitar from the Conservatory of Music in Puerto Rico under the country's foremost guitar professor Leonardo Egúrbida and a Masters degree in classical guitar and ancient music from the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Düsseldorf, Germany under famed guitarist, composer and professor Joaquín Clerch and pianist and harpsichordist Antony Spiri. In 2016 he finished his “Konzertexamen” under Joaquín Clerch at the Robert Schumann Conservatory with the highest distinction.
