Au Pair

As an au pair, you live directly with a family in Germany for six to twelve months. You have the opportunity to improve your language skills and get to know the traditions and culture of the host country. To be allowed to work as an au pair in Germany, you must be at least 18 years old and not older than 26 at the time of your application. For free board, lodging and pocket money, you can help your host family with light housework and looking after the children. The Aupair Society can provide you with addresses and links to trustworthy organisations that will help you find a host family.


 

Volunteering

WorldWide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) Germany is part of a worldwide network that brings together volunteers and organic farmers whilst promoting cultural and educational exchange. You will experience everyday life on a farm or a plant nursery and gain practical knowledge in exchange for board and lodging.
 

Internationale Jugendgemeinschaftsdienste

Internationale Jugendgemeinschaftsdienste (ijgd) is a non-profit association for international youth work in Germany. You can get involved in a project of one of the ijgd partner organisations for 12 months and you have the choice to engage in social, cultural, monument preservation, political or ecological areas. The ijgd supports and accompanies you before and during your voluntary service.

Freunde der Erziehungskunst Rudolf Steiners

The Incoming programme is a federal voluntary service for people from abroad aged 18 and over who want to gain experience in social professions at a location of their choice in Germany for a year. Besides exciting tasks, you can look forward to a language course to improve your German. Accommodation and meals will be provided and you will also receive financial support for your flight to Germany.
