About The Void

The Void is published by Subbacultcha, an Amsterdam-based platform run by real people who are hopelessly devoted to music and art.
The Void is published six times per year and is distributed all over the Netherlands.
The Void represents the inspiring community of Subbacultcha and reflects on their vibrant surroundings. Consider it an ode to unruly creativity focused on musicians and artists who challange the norm and amplify our cultural taste.
The Void also shines light on all the concerts and events Subbacultcha organises in and around Amsterdam, showcasing the emerging artists and musicians we love.

One of those events is:

Horses in The Void feat. Klub 470

On Saturday 16th February The Void presents Horses in The Void feat. Klub 470.
Moving swiftly. Grasping at thin air, like our lives depend on it. Listening to the music we love. Discovering art that challenges us. Voicing our opinions in the face of evil. Celebrating everything we hold dear.

One of the artists at Horses in The Void feat. Klub 470 will be Swan Meat. Swan Meat sounds illegal, right? Well, this video from the Cologne-based producer and composer of the same name is so good it probably should be. Taken from her second solo EP Tame Swan Meat's new single Lisp is a bizarre cinematic soundscape reminiscent of experimental work by Arca or Iglooghost.
"While producing the track Lisp I didn't have any overarching narrative in mind," Swan Meat explains. "I was just trying to see how far I could reasonably take these bits of vocaloid lyric and make all these sections coalesce into one fluid track."
Coalesce it does – the vocal embraced by elements of fantasy gaming scores, shuddering bass lines, and something altogether more baroque, all coexisting beautifully.
