Presentation: Prix Jeunesse Suitcase

On Wednesday 22nd November from 12pm at Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision, David Kleeman will present a programme of the best recent international TV productions for young people (12-15 years old).

David Kleeman is Advisory Board Chair to the international children's TV festival, Prix Jeunesse, an international television contest which is held every two years in Munich over several days. At the conclusion of the festival, in cooperation with the Prix Jeunesse Foundation, the Goethe-Institut “packs” the so called “Prix Jeunesse Suitcase,” containing the best and most interesting TV productions for children and young people, into DVDs. The aim, in the context of intercultural and media-based educational work, is to enable children and young people to discover cultures different from their own, familiarise themselves with diverse life environments and to acquire media competence.

About Prix Jeunesse

The Prix Jeunesse Foundation was established in 1964 by the Free State of Bavaria, the City of Munich and Bayerischer Rundfunk. The Foundation's main activity is the bi-annual Prix Jeunesse International festival. It is famous for being the premier get-together for content, innovation and quality in kids’ TV. Further activities like the Prix Jeunesse Suitcase, training and global networking make Prix Jeunesse a world-embracing lobby organization for quality children's media.

About David Kleeman

Besides being Advisory Board Chair to Prix Jeunesse, David Kleeman is President of the American Center for Children and Media, an executive roundtable that leads the US industry in developing sustainable and kid-friendly principles. He has consulted for producers, broadcasters and organizations ranging from the Geena Davis Institute on Gender and Media and the Fred Rogers Center on Early Learning and Children’s Media, to Baby Einstein, PBS Kids and HarperCollins Publishers.  David authored a major study on public broadcasting’s unique roles for children in the digital era; two book chapters; numerous articles for trade, academic and general press; and blogs for the Huffington Post. 

David will be in Wellington to speak at this year’s SPADA conference, New Zealand's leading screen producer association. To Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision, he will bring with him the "Prix Jeunesse Suitcase 2017" full of award-winning TV projects from Japan, Chile, Brazil, Netherlands, Belgium and Finland.
