We are tremendously sorry, but we have to cancel the workshop “Flux your Ears” with artist Steffi Weismann this weekend at the institute in Wellington. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
If you are interested in talking to Steffi and in getting an insight into her work, you still have the chance to do so at the Meet and Greet with her on Tuesday, the 20th of February, at 5:30 pm (Goethe-Institut, 150 Cuba Street (level 6, entrance Garrett Street), Wellington). We hope to see you there!

Join performance artist Steffi Weismann in a performance workshop based on scores and chance operations using movement, voice and objects.

The workshop is open to tertiary students or adults (minimum age: 16), who are interested in the artistic approach of combining Performance Art and Contemporary Music, and bridging the gap between performing and composing, no previous knowledge required.

On the first day we will start to work with spacial concepts of sound and performance, and get to know Steffi Weismann's specific method of creating readymade music. The group will develop a new version of her piece Fountain, and work with the floating border between stage and audience space. Fountain is a living sculpture, a performance about shrinking resources and the process of circulation. We will explore the moments, when a composed and controlled setting turns into an open and participative situation (and backwards). On the second day the participants will focus on short solo performances. The work will be based on the score of 1x1 – performance with random factors.

This is a game piece by Steffi Weismann, related to John Cage, Fluxus and the history of Performance Art. The participants will learn to deal with short decisions when being overstrained, the limits of mind and body and the benefits from dealing with chance and strict time structures.

On Sunday a short presentation may happen as part of the upcoming Festival „ The Performance Arcade“.
