Sulamit Löwenstein, the daughter of one of the many Jewish families to have fled Germany and the Nazis, grows up in Buenos Aires. She falls in love with Friedrich Burg, unaware that he’s the son of a Nazi official who went into hiding. Not even Friedrich knows that. When he discovers his father’s secret, a rift develops between father and son. Friedrich goes to Frankfurt to study and Sulamit follows him. But their love fizzles out due to his involvement in politics.
