Summer 1976: Bernd drives with his wife and two children to his recently deceased grandmother’s summer house. Countless family members meet on the almost park-like property. The anticipated countryside holiday happiness is spoiled from the very beginning: an old tree is felled by a bolt of lightning, and the electricity supply isn’t working properly. There's news on the radio of a missing girl in the area; a body will be found later. With the children scampering about, and not always peacefully, the adults start to argue about the inheritance. What will happen to the property? THE GARDEN tells the story of the unstoppable loss of an idyll.
