​DR. TERESITA T. TUMAPON RECEIVES ORDER OF MERIT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY

The former Vice President for Internationalization of Liceo de Cagayan University has been awarded the highest decoration of Germany for her outstanding efforts to promote the German language and academic cooperation between the Philippines and Germany.
 
On 26 January 2017, Dr. Teresita T. Tumapon has been awarded the order of merit of the Federal Republic of Germany represented by Germany’s Ambassador to the Philippines Dr. Gordon Kricke at his residence in Forbes Park, Bonifacio Global City.
In the past years, Dr. Tumapon has continuously fostered the German-Philippine relations by laying the foundations for a sustainable German language training for students at the Liceo de Cagayan University within the initiative: “Schools: Partners for the Future”. In doing so, Liceo de Cagayan became the third official partner school of Germany in the Philippines. In only three and a half years, the number of students of the German language at Liceo in Mindanao has increased to more than 1000 per year.
 
Her continuous efforts to motivate teachers and students as well as her excellent contacts to decision makers in educational institutions have led to an active learning environment in Cagayan de Oro in which the German language is flourishing. Liceo de Cagayan University has become known beyond the Mindanao region as a center of excellence for German language learning.
 
Dr. Tumapon has been an active alumna of the German Academic Exchange Service for several decades. She studied at the University of Kassel/ Germany and engaged in various alumni projects with Germany.
