An exhibition on fashion, design and sustainability

The Goethe-Institut Philippinen in partnership with the University of the Philippines College of Home Economics (UP CHE) presents FAST FASHION, an exhibition on the dark side of the fashion industry.

The exhibition opens on October 10 at 6:00 PM at Bulwagan ng Dangal (Main Library), UP Diliman in Quezon City. Fast Fashion will be available for viewing free-of-charge until November 25.

Curated by Dr. Claudia Banz of the Museum of Arts and Crafts (Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe) Hamburg, the exhibition presents the not-so-glamorous side of what is now known as "fast fashion". With digital installations and interactive displays, the exhibit offers information on the industry's effects on the environment, the fast-paced consumerism and the working conditions in clothing factories.

A special area of the exhibition tagged the "Slow Fashion Lab" highlights the green alternative, with works by designers Noa Elizabeth Goren and Bojana Draca, alumna of ESMOD Berlin (International University of Art for Fashion) mixed with works by top UP fashion students. Their works would be the featured examples of sustainable practices in fashion. This special section is co-curated by ESMOD director Friederike von Wedel-Parlow and UP's Monica Rayala and Leynard Gripal along with other faculty members of the UP College of Home Economics.
