Impromptu Video Game Creation Competition

Get a chance to be one of three winners of a free trip to Germany and register for the 24-hour GAME JAM organized on the occassion of the Games and Politics exhibition

The Game Jam is an impromptu video game creation competition wherein participants are tasked to develop a complete, playable video game within parameters set by the organizers and in a limited amount of time (24 to 48 hours). This format is being used by the game development scene worldwide and is designed to foster creativity and cooperation between game developers of different backgrounds. 

The GAMES AND POLITICS GAME JAM will take place from October 6 to 7 at the De La Salle College of St. Benilde Main Campus. Registration starts on September 12. See more info below:

Registration:

The Game Jam will have 50 individuals carefully selected through an application process. 

APPLICATION IS ON-GOING via an on-line application form until September 22, 2017 (Friday). Only applicants with game development experience will be admitted.

Applicants below 18 years old will need to submit a signed waiver, the template of which will be available for download from this website starting Sept 12. Should a minor be selected to compete, they are required to have guardian with them for the duration of the Game Jam.

Mechanics:

- Work alone or in a team. Teams can have 3 to 5 members.
- The Game Jam theme will be revealed on October 6 at 3pm.
- Upload the game through the given platform by 3pm on October 7.
- Present the game idea to a panel of well-established indie developers.
 
Food, security, and medical attention will be available on site. 

Participants must bring their own machines to the Game Jam. Participants are free to use any tools or libraries to create the game. Participants are free to start with any base-code or framework they may have. Participants are free to use third-party artwork/music/audio assets, or assets they previously created.
Participants may only use assets that they have the legal right to (Public Domain, things they licensed/created, etc). 

Prizes

The makers of the top 3 games will be granted free booths to showcase their creations at the Electronic Sports Gaming Summit (ESGS) Indie Arena on 27-29 October 2017.

Three members of the winning team will win a free trip to Cologne, Germany to exhibit their game at GAMESCOM 2018

The Games and Politics Game Jam focuses on creating a fruitful event through collaboration, innovation and experimentation. We encourage inclusive environments throughout the event and ask all participants to follow the standard Code of Conduct set by the Global Game Jam.
