Till Passow is a Berlin based filmmaker and lecturer. His documentaries “Howrah Howrah” and “Mast Qalandar” were shown at over 200 international film festivals and took home over 20 prizes, inducing IFF San Francisco’s Golden Gate Award, German Short Film Award in Gold and IDFA nomination & special mention.
Till Passow initiated and was art director of  “HFF goes Calcutta” (2004/05) in Kolkata and “HFF meets Independency & Revolution” (2009/2010) in Mexico, Venezuela and Chile, organized by Film University Babelsberg, Arte and the Goethe-Institut. He gives regular short film workshops for the Goethe-Institut in cooperation with local universities: Windhoek (2005); Santiago de Chile (2008); Mexico City (2008); Guadalajara (2009); Kano (2009); Mumbai (2011); Kabul (2012 & 2013); Athens (2013); Lahore (2005, 2015); Karachi (2009, 2015, 2016, 2017); Colombo (2017).

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is a Pakistani documentary filmmaker and producer who is known for her work in films that highlights women´s rights. She is the recipient of several awards, including two Academy Awards (Oscar©) for her films “Saving Face” (2012) and “A Girl in the River” and several Emmy Awards. In 2012, the Government of Pakistan honored her with the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, the second highest civilian honor of the country, and Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Anam Abbas is the producer of the upcoming documentary feature "Showgirls of Pakistan" which won the Corus Hotdocs Best Pitch prize in 2016. She is the producer and director of "Ladies Only", a feminist webseries. She was the festival director of Face Film Festival in 2015 and is the associate festival director for the I Am Karachi Film Festival to be held in winter 2017.

Rumman Zia is an international filmmaker based in Karachi, Pakistan. His films have been selected for screenings in film festivals in the US, Canada and India. He runs the film organization Cineaste One. Cineaste One propagates film literacy and motivates alternative cinema by producing and exhibiting short films.

Durriya Kazi is a Karachi based sculptor whose work reflects her concern with tradition and change, she currently heads the Department of Visual Studies at University of Karachi. In her role as an art educator she has similarly engaged in locating art education in the cultural context of Pakistan without compromising its international role. She has established a Visual Studies Department at the University of Karachi in 1999 the underlying philosophy of which is to bring traditional and contemporary practices on equal footing. She has researched traditional and popular arts and has presented papers on these subjects.

Bernadette Kuiper is the co-founder and director of the Impact Academy, a Dutch foundation that works with storytellers to ensure their important stories make an impact. Impact Academy works on strategy, network and fundraising for an impact campaign which enables new stories to make a difference in this world. They focus on developing expertise around impact producing in the Netherlands.. 


Arify - Jury member Afghanistan Ibrahim Arify Ibrahim Arify

Ibrahim Arify, born in Kabul in Afghanistan, has studied literature at Kabul University faculty and obtained a BA in Farsi Literature. Arify received a scholarship to complete his graduate studies at the Institute of Theater and Cinema in Kiev, Ukraine. He received his master degree in Cinematography in 1987 and a postgraduate degree in Cinematography from (VIGK) Moscow Institute of Arts in 1992. During the civil war and the Taliban era Arify immigrated to Germany where his family still resides. He became the General Director of Afghan Films in 2012.
