With the kind help of our partners, Instituto Camões Bucareste, we invited Patrícia Gouveia, director of the Multimedia Art Department at Lisbon University of Fine Arts Faculty, to open the Cultural Management Academy 2019 in Bucharest with the public keynote lecture on "Transmedia Playful Aesthetics".
The 2019 edition of CMA is dedicated to the topic of "Culture and arts in transition: the digital era" and will explore the various aspects of new technologies and digital systems, as well as their impact on cultural management, during an intensive one-week seminar in Bucharest.
Apart from the public opening lecture, the seminar is dedicated to the 17 participants selected after an open call for cultural managers which took place earlier this year.

About the talk:
During the public opening lecture we aim at displaying concrete examples of arts-based research and playful media that will challenge the legacy of both modernism and postmodernism in contemporary arts. Additionally, we will focus on how this subject has contributed to shaping our current environment and practices in the XXIst century transmedia playful aesthetics.
Overcoming popular modernism through gaming, participation and civic engagement we explore recurrent discourses that disconnect the nineties digital revolution from contemporary arts practices. Our goal is to promote an understanding of the current transmedia playful aesthetics, which no longer supports the artificial divide between news or media arts and contemporary arts.
Changes in the intercultural museum and in higher education can no longer sustain this segregation, which is a product of old and new media specificity accompanied by narrow notions of specialization. On the contrary, we intend to introduce the integration of different perspectives, means and technologies with an understanding of a common ground for both arts and sciences.
