© Anne Fehres and Luke Conroy Luke Conroy (Australia, 1990) is a visual artist, sociologist and teacher. Anne Fehres (The Netherlands, 1988) is a visual artist and filmmaker. Working together since 2016, the artist currently live and work in The Hague, The Netherlands. "we predominantly work digitally, across photography, graphic design, video, animation and sound, with outcomes in both online and physical installations."

© Evgeny Lukuta Evgeny Lukuta , transdisciplinary artist, designer and Media Industry Engineer, Master of Digital Arts, graduate of the Vladivostok School of Contemporary Art in the direction of "Curatorship in the digital space" from the Goethe Institute, participant of digitocene.net - a decentralized community of artists who explore the world in the interaction of natural and digital in search of new post-natural and post-digital ethics and aesthetics. Originally from Siberia, lived in the Far East, is now localized and works in St. Petersburg. "the interaction and dichotomy of virtual and real environments, intelligent technologies, synthetic recognition, data-informed urbanism".

© Filippo Fabbri Filippo Fabbri (France): As a composer, a sound-artist and a physicist, I am deeply affected by the evolution of the contemporary urban spaces. The sonic signatures of the various entities evolving within a city system constitute a magmatic, pulsating meta-material, that I need to understand, to live, to integrate and to be part of. The structured multiple surfaces of this meta-material exhibit specific functional and expressive properties and behaviours, that require proper languages and representations in order to grasp the complexity of their entangled interactions. "exploring the connection/disconnection of multi-dimensional nodes that characterise the urban meta-surfaces, especially in relation to digital relationships and experiences among humans, in the hope to find a way to re-establish the broken and the damaged links and to propose new structures of convergence".

@ Ildar Iakubov Ildar Iakubov is an artist, curator and educator, focused on so called "new media". I believe in the unification of knowlegdge, meaning that art, science and technology belong to a mutual field, that is to be explored as a whole. My curiosity and motivation are geared towards designing and prototyping new modes of cultural production and consumption.

© Johnny Korkman Jarkko Räsänen is a digital artist working between Helsinki and Berlin and focusing mostly in photography, digital painting, video and sound art. "I specialize currently in artistic programming. I feel it allows an unique artistic language not limited by commercial software. I am interested in studying the expressive potential of photographic file and disconnecting the concept of realism from it."

© Katya Pryanik Olesya Ilenok is an interdisciplinary artist. Explores the urban environment using analog and digital tools in her work. She works in various techniques: generative graphics and sound, dynamic light, clay sculpture, photography, collage, stencil, video. "I always liked to work with a local context, which often flows into a global one... Now I focus on the synthesis of urban space and the digitalization of our time, I am looking for similar semiotics, semantic and visual codes, their integration into each other."

©Marie-EveLevasseur Marie-Eve Levasseur (*1985, Canada) lives and works in Germany. She studied visual and media art in Montreal as well as in Leipzig. She works with video, installation, sculpture and 3D animation, among other techniques. "I deal with intimacy, interactions and non-human ecosystems... The method I use feeds from feminist science fiction and its emancipatory potential."

She is multidisciplinary artist, curator and media-researcher. She acquired her first education in theoretical physics, and after that in the field of art in Roerich Art College and School for young artists at Pro Arte Foundation. Her art projeсts participated in various shows in Russia and abroad, including Ural Industrial Biennale and Moscow International Biennale for Young Art. Natalia is an active participant of russian art scene and organized multiple curatorial projects at the intersection of arts, technology and community-based art. "My main interests are coming from the hybrid environment, regime and metastable states, with their instability and fluidity and its paradoxes of stop and move at the same time... I try to define these processes by examining post-soviet, traumas, militarism, mass media, propaganda, collective memory using personal reflections, affective domains and analytic methods."

"Our works came from possible hybridizations between the living world and technology which meeting points incite them to invent sensitive and poetic languages."

© TheIdianalindhardt Sisters Hope is an award-winning international performance group based in Copenhagen. Their work unfolds at the intersection of performance art, research and activism and intervenes into different everyday life contexts and institutions. The work is highly immersive and sense-stimulating and applies interactivity to create transformative encounters and create poetic universes that one can not only participate in, but inhabit. "Our ambition is to make the sensuous and poetic accessible to as many people as possible - to 'democratize the aesthetic'."

В ГОСТЯХ У НАШИХ «ГОРОЖАН»!

12 художниц и художников со всего европейского мира провели 6 недель под одной виртуальной крышей в Санкт-Петербурге – на сайте #VirtualSPAR

Вместе они создали сайт виртуальной выставки „The City“ («Город»), которую можно посетить по ссылке thecity-eunic.net до декабря 2021 г. Наш «Город» мультидисциплинарен и интермедиален, ведь каждая и каждый из его «горожан» обладает собственным медиальным почерком в подвижной среде «цифрового искусства», который определяется специфической географией и культурным окружением наших авторов-художников.

Их короткие биографии, приведённые ниже, приоткрывают «окна» в наш вируальный мегаполис. А благодаря видеоподкасту можно побывать у художников в гостях и посмотреть на творческий процесс изнутри. Кроме того, в публичной программе, размещённой на страничке выставки, мы проводим небольшие экскурсии как по «аналоговым» окрестностям, так и по цифровым мирам наших резидентов и резиденток, а в лектории обсуждаем возможности взаимодействия между аналоговой и цифровой реальностями средствами творческой интервенции в городское пространство.

Welcome BY our "Citizens"!

For 6 weeks, 12 artists from all over the European world gathered under their common virtual roof in St. Petersburg – the #VirtualSPAR

Together they developed the content and the concept of the virtual exhibition „The City“, which recived its location on the worldwide web at thecity-eunic.net till 30.11.2021. „The City" is very multidisciplinary and very intermedia project, because each of its „Citizens“ already has her or his own medial signature in the fluid element of „digital art“, which has its own geography and cultural environment.

The short biosbelow give you a first glimpse into the „windows“ of our virtual metropolis. And the podcast, which was made within the residency runtime, gives some further opportunities for exploration of the „living in The City“. Furthermore you could join our public program (see the schedule at thecity-eunic.net) which includes short tours through the so different „analog“ environments and the digital worlds of our artists. And last but not least there is the lection room in the exhibition virtual hall, where the perspectives on coalitions between analog and virtual realities by artistic interventions in the urban space was being discussed by the artists and experts.

The virtual residency VITAA (Virtual Artists' Assembly) is a joint project of the EUNIC Cluster in St. Petersburg in cooperation with St. Petersburg Art Residency (SPAR).The project is co-financed by EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture — is Europe’s network of national cultural institutes and organisations, with 36 members from all 28 EU member states), the Consulate General of the Netherlands, the Danish Cultural Institute, the Goethe-Institut, the Institut Français, the Finnish Institute and the Instituto Italiano di Cultura in St. Petersburg.
