BOOK DASH Call for Applications
Writing, Illustrating and Designing for Children‘s books


Are you a writer, illustrator or designer? Do you want to develop your skills further, meet other creatives from Sub-Saharan Africa and put your skills to the test to create a storybook in a team in just one day?

The Goethe-Institut and Book Dash are teaming up to invite professional writers, illustrators or designers from Sub-Saharan Africa to the Goethe-Institut in Johannesburg, South Africa for:
• a 2-day skills-transfer workshop (24 - 25 October),
• a day of fast-paced book-making with Book Dash (26 October) and
• practical school visits (29 October).


This call is for creatives from outside of South Africa. The call for South African participants will be published at a later date.
The week-long programme will take place in Johannesburg from the 23 - 29 October 2019: You need to be available the entire time and will be expected to take part in all planned activities.

Flights, visa costs and accommodation will be covered, and meals will be provided. Activities will be conducted in English, therefore proficient level of English is needed to participate in the event.
