7. Chapter - The proud years, Feast of the living and the dead (1967 – 1982)
How a corporation wishes to buy Anton’s factory. How Anton travels to Baden-Baden to seek advice from his father Paul. How Anton decides to keep the factory and assuages his workers. How Ernst becomes a trader of antique goods, How Hermann, who has long left the village, becomes a young composer. How his music is to be heard via radio in the village and how only Glasisch-Karl understands it. How Maria dies at 80 and how Hermann arrives too late for her funeral and sees her coffin standing in the rain on the village road. How Glasisch dies during the carnival and joins Mari and all the others in Hunsrücker heaven. How Hermann brings about the performance of his newest choral music following a poem in Hunsrücker in a cave made of slate.
