The performance „Sandscapes“ is literally build up on Sand, which – in this performance – claims the whole space of the stage. What initially appears as a mass of material soon becomes a sensual and formable substance in the hands of artists and children, who engage in the material via drawing forms and signs. The sand thereby trickles through the hands, spreads melodically over the plastic blankets and over umbrellas whilst being thrown in the air, blowing through legs and interstices. The mere mean of expression thus remains the material itself, which is integrated into the performance and interactions with the audience and hence becomes a medium of communication for the participants.
