He is considered one of the most significant contemporary painters: Gerhard Richter, born 1932 in Dresden, educated at the Staatlichen Kunsthochschule there, and after his excape to Western Germany at the Staatlichen Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Meanwhile Richter received countless international awards, his exhibitions are celebrated all over the world. Director Corinna Belz managed to observe the artist at work in his studio. She follows the formation process of some of his artworks right up to the vernissage in New York. With her sensitive curiousness she created an exceptional document, far from any conventional artist portrait.
